Christmas Kiss - Joanne Dannon

Q. Where did the idea for your book come from?

I love writing holiday stories and couldn’t wait to write another this year. I already knew and loved Amber, who was such a good friend to Taylor in Christmas Kiss, New Year’s Wish, so it seemed only natural to give her a HEA (happily ever after).

But I needed a hero, someone so different from her. During the time I was creating a hero, my husband introduced me to his new friend, Jared Cohen, who has spent years as a stuntman. Wow! I was fascinated by his career and insights into the movie-making business and ta da, I’d found the perfect hero guy for Amber.

I often talk about finding inspiration for the books I write. There are ideas everywhere, and they are perfect for my holiday books. As soon as I saw this video, I knew I had to use it; it was the perfect way to have Darcy and Amber meet – https://www.facebook.com/georgehtakei/videos/211878956093904/

Q. Why do you write romance?

Because I love it 🙂

Q. Is there anything which sets it apart from any other book in the genre?

I write romances which focus on the journey of the hero and heroine, and them coming together. Most good romances do this. The one area that I do focus on is giving the reader an emotional journey, with a sigh worthy ending.

Q. What, if any, were the challenges you faced writing your book?

In ensuring my hero was authentic. I did a lot of research, and also had my friend, Jared, read the book before it was finalised.

Q. Tell us about your process, how do you get into a writing mindset?

I just write!!!

I spend quite a bit of time working on my hero and heroine. I work on their GMC (Goal, Motivation, Conflict), this is what keeps them apart and keeps them together. For me, this is key and I don’t start writing till I have nailed this.

Q. What is the underlying theme of your book, if any?

My book is a holiday romance which features a friends to lovers trope (one of my favourites!)

Q. Would you call your hero and/or heroine a typical romance hero and/or heroine? Why not? What sets him/her apart from the men/women we usually encounter in romances?

My gorgeous hero is a stunt man, so I don’t think he’s your typical hero 😉

Q. What was your inspiration for your MC?

Chase Armitage. I used him to create my hero, Darcy, as he is incredibly talented and whose videos are breathtaking, and fascinating viewing –

Q. What kind of research did you undertake when writing?

Watching lots of videos of Chase Armitage 🙂

Q. What was your favourite part in writing this book?

Their first kiss.

Q. Besides the gorgeous cover, what about this story will draw your reader into your world?

If you love stories which feature the magic of Christmas in falling in love, then you’ll love Christmas Kiss, in London.

Q. Where can we buy your book?

Christmas Kiss, in London is available in the Romancing the Holidays 3 set and also on its own. But best to buy the Romancing the Holidays set, which features 10 wonderful romances for only 99c. Don’t forget, Kindle Unlimited readers can read for free – hooray!

“You once told me that you’re a good kisser,” she said, as determination gave her the boost of confidence she needed.

“I am,” he said, sitting straighter, his eyes sparkling with mischief.

“I want to see if you’re as good as you make out to be. I think you were exaggerating,” she said with a dismissive toss of her hair.

“You want to do an experiment? Prove you’re right?”

“Something like that,” she moved towards him so she stood in front of him, the warm, thermal waters lapping at their skin.

“Are you going to rate me?”

She nodded. “Yes, I’ll give you a mark out of ten.” She inched closer.

“And what if I’m right? That I’m a good kisser.”

“Then I’ll kiss you again, because, who doesn’t want to be kissed by someone who knows how to do it well?” she asked leaning forward so their mouths were barely an inch from each other.

“I like to win,” he said.

“I know. It’s what makes you so good at what you do,” she replied in a soft voice.
